We are headed to bahamas next week for some tuna action, i am open to suggestions, is it better to run and dump or troll and throw,
leaving out of Ft lauderdale, any tuna fishermen with suggestions?
i am the rookie but going with a couple of people who are supposed to know, just looking for info for my own curiosity
thanks in advance
well paintblend, what you could do is watch for the birds feeding and head that way you should see fish breaking the water, head beyond them and then kill the motors and stop and start throwing out cut bait to lure the tuna and be patient, because the boat will have chased them down but they will come back up to eat and when they do you will be busy hauling them in , make sure you have plenty of good 80lb line and maybe use a #11 circle hook and hang on. it is just that easy
RIGHT!!

(from reading on the internet this is what i have come up with on my own, if it is wrong please correct it now)

Take some big topwater plugs to throw at them if you see them crashing

Sounds like something I would do.
The only things I know about tuna (which is pretty much nothing) are what Iโve seen on TV, and I donโt trust anything on TV unless Iโve seen it myself in person.
Take some pictures and let us know what worked for you.
Good luck!

Here is a pro tip. Pull out of the waterway and go till you get into 1000โ of water, then hang a left and run 8-10 miles. Put your baits out and troll until you notice a radio tower onshore. Troll back and forth in varying depths there. We had a triple hook up of white Marlin there, Have caught plenty of stud hoos and dolphin there as well. If you are hell bent on Tuna, head down to the Great Isaacs.
thanks guys i am excited about going, i have been a few times but basically for wahoo and dolphin and snorklin for bugs, but this group wants to target the big tuna so iโll let you know what happens and take some pics
