Postcard Petitions Opposing MPAs

The place I have postcards petitions made is having a 1/2 off sale today and tomorrow. I can have more postcards made opposing the proposed offshore MPAs if anyone would like some. The hundreds of pre-addressed postcards that have already been sent are having an impact. We have a very good chance of keeping the Georgetown Hole and other traditional fishing grounds open if we keep the pressure on. All I ask is for you to consider ordering one of the calendars I sell to fund my fight. I will send the postcards with your calendar. You can see and purchase the 2014 Freedom to Fish calendars at this link. http://www.freefish7.com/natural-art.html

Hey Freefish,

I just ordered a calendar…nice work on the photos.

Keep up the good fight. I am available to help out with opposing
the new MPA’s. I agree that we need to get organized and have specific alternatives. We should consider getting signed petitions from as many fishermen as possible; for use at upcoming council meetings.

Thanks,

Chris

Thanks BlueFly! I will send you some of the postcard petitions opposing MPAs and supporting alternative solutions like artificial reefs and decent assist devices. The postcards are already addressed to the SAFMC. This is an easy way to inform people while giving them an easy way to help.

where can we get the postcards. I can have quite a few filled out!

sniper7, I still have a few postcards I would be happy to send you. I am trying to sell a few calendars online to get enough money on my paypal account to order more. Please take a look at the calendars and consider getting one or a few for gifts. I will send some postcards with your order or you can PM me your address to get the postcards free of charge.

Here is a public comment opposing MPAs that anyone is welcome to send the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council.

Please send your comments to Kim Iverson until an official public comment email address is set up for RA17. kim.iverson@safmc.net

Regulatory Amendment 17 Public Comment

I OPPOSE any new Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and/or reorienting existing MPAs to include more prime fishing areas. There is no proof existing MPAs have had any positive impact.

I SUPPORT enhancing existing MPAs with new artificial reef habitat rather than closing more traditional fishing grounds.

I SUPPORT releasing Warsaw Grouper and Speckled Hind with decent assist devices. These devices have been proven to greatly increase survival rates for fish suffering from barotrauma. https://www.usc.edu/org/seagrant/Publications/PDFs/Jarvis_Lowe_rockfish_barotrauma.pdf
