Power Pole Question

Fished with my old fishing buddy this past week and he recently installed a Power Pole on his bay boat. With age and back issues, it sure made life a lot easier so I’m on the hunt for one. I hate buying something that I know very little about, I’m not looking for the cheapest just the right unit for my boat for the type fishing I do. I have an older model Scout 16’2 Sport Fish, fish in the coastal creeks of SC for Reds, Trout and Flounder. Any Pros/Cons, size, brand would be appreciated.

If you are around Charleston I would suggest Charleston Marine. They have a good deal of experience with them and can install if you want. Also I am finding that the customer service for Power Pole is excellent

Spartanburg/Edisto
Sea Hunt 27 “Saltwater Gospel”
Maverick 18 HPX-V

On the Same General Topic of electric/electronic Anchoring, I have a MinnKota Talon 10 that seems to be getting pluff mud in the metal sliding mechanism (Not the Actual fiberglass talon portion). Anyone else having this problem ? , and if so, is there an Easy way to rinse it off, while still retracted? It got so clogged that the metal would Not deploy last time I was out. Any Help or Ideas would be Greatly Appreciated.

I’ve had a 10-foot power pole for 3 years. Don’t know how I lived without it. Had one issue . Called powerpoll. They overnighted me the part. Quick easy fix. I think that issues has been long taking care of. Definitely go with the 10 footer.

If you think 1 pole is great, you should try 2.

Blades looked better but to much $$$, I went with Pro II poles. They had the better/quieter pumps and updated controller.

8ft is the correct size (IMHO) for Charleston area. Any taller and it sticks to high above the motor, any shorter and your really limited on depth and it wont hold as well. Sometimes you need to push into 2ft of mud to get a good hold.

I purchased my PP’s through Charleston Marine. They are the auth dealer/repair. Chris V even beat an online quote.

I DIY installed because they mounted right to my jackplate. If it wasnt so easy I would have had them install.
