Power Pole-snap!! Pop!!!

When I went fishing yesterday I put the pole down in some current and I heard a snap and pop. I looked down at the mount and noticed some of the bolts were coming loose. How id this thing mounted in the transom? Could there be possible damage done to the transom from this thing? I don’t see how it could but maybe the mount is toast.

Not very well apparently! Sorry, couldn’t resist, but good luck on getting it back in service. Is it covered by a warranty??

I had the pro 8ft. mounted on my 20 BayScout, but it was mounted on a bracket (from powerpole) in between my jackplate and transom. Works perfect with no strain on the transom, compared to one that’s mounted off the stern of the boat where the live wells are. Hanckel did an excellent job mounting it.

Did you try to leave with it still down??

Ummm No. It should still be under warranty but we will see.

Well someone on here told Hanckle about my power pole situation and they called me. I have to tell you that those guys treat there customers great. I talked with one of the Hanckles and they are going over to the house to pick the boat up to fix the pole and do the 100 hour service. After examining it a little closer it appears that the bolts that came with the pole are too short and popped out easily. I would be willing to bet that the added depth that the bracket added is why the bolts are too short. Scout made the mounting bracket for that boat and the transom has an angle to it that makes the mount fairly thick.

Agreed there F&G, good folks over there at Hanckle. Was workin on a client of mines boat and sent him over there a few weeks ago with some engine trouble he was having (I don’t do outboards normally, cept for maint.) and they got him all squared away promptly while he waited, 2 of the guys even stayed late so he could take his wife and kids boating the next morning. He was very impressed at thier service. I allways cross my fingers when reccomending someone to a client because it can reflect on me.

I have no reservations with recommending anyone to Hanckle. When I had a problem with one of my boats they were going to go out of their way and get me into a boat for a couple of weeks while mine went back to the factory, They have stayed late for me too. Excellent company and people.

Everybody remember he had this problem when he puts it up for sale in a few months.
