What’s the difference b/w the “Sportsman II” and the “Professional” besides 300 bucks?

Here is a link to a comparison sheet on Powerpole’s website. http://www.power-pole.com/jlmarine/power-pole/compare-anchors.aspx
Super good product, and even better customer service!
Ok, cool chart. Unfortunately I hear nothing but good things about Powerpole’s…looks like I’m going to have to drop 1500 bucks on a dang anchor!

I am 77 and putting my anchor in is not bad .Pulling it up is rough. My Daughter got me the Power Pole,Grandson installed it.Best present i ever got.If you have the money get one you will not regret it.

Get one with the new C-Monster control. Tap-Tap on the remote, and it will deploy fully on it’s own. Tap-Tap and it will retract fully on it’s own. It even has 3-Speeds. You get both a dash switch and a remote. Both switches are wireless! Spend the money, you will not regret it.
I have been wondering about this very expensive anchor system myself. I have a heavy 18.5’ boat and I fish in salt creeks the most with a lot of current. I am interested in knowing how well the system holds up to swift current? ( I mean really holding the boat in place ) if it is as good as it says it is, it has to be worth it (if you have the money.) there is a lot of distubance and wear and tear on both you and the boat constantly anchoring. I told my wife just yesterday that when I see someone that has one this year I want to ask them to give me a little demo in swift current…

Is power pole way better than the minn kota talon?

dont know anything abou the talon, but I have an 18 ft flats boat and I wont ever be without a powerpole again. The remote is really sweet.
skrimp: i wondered the same thing. if you do a little searching around the net, it’s not too hard to find folks who have gone with the talon and regretted it. i don’t think I can recall a single time i’ve found somebody regretting the powerpole. there have been a couple “unintended deployments” with the powerpole, but it sounds as if their customer service has always gone above and beyond to make things right with their customers. i don’t have either, but am aspiring to a powerpole later in the year.
Swift current is no problem as long as the pole has some bottom penetration. A 8’ pole can anchor effectively in about 7.5’ of water. A 6’ pole can anchor effectively in 5.5’ of water. I recommend a 8’ pole for our waters. I did have a spike break once. I called Powerpole that same day at about 3:00 pm and had the spike the next day!! Best thing was there was no charge for the spike, and no charge for the shipping!! Check around, I have never heard a bad comment about Powerpole.
When I bought my boat it had the Power Pole. I loved it. But it went to 6’ and outside of that I needed an anchor like before. I found myself looking for 6’ so I wouldn’t have to drop the anchor. Not ridiculous about it, but if in 8’, I just needed 2’ to avoid the anchor.
THEN I got he I-Pilot with spotlock. Spent about $2000. Keeps me electronically anchored in 2 - 2000’ of water. Now when I’m in 4’ I’m like “Hey, I can use my Power Pole!”. Power Pole is great for flats, though. But if I had only 2 choices, it would be an I-Pilot and Cajun pole. That I-Pilot has become a luxurious necessity.

Vin: I totally agree with ya! That will definitely be my next purchase, a Riptide with i-pilot. Looks sweet!
But, no one will regret spending the money on a powerpole in our waters.

If I had to make an either/or decision based on logical money, it would be iPilot all day long. The versatility is there. Didn’t mean to muddle your question, Pat. But that has been my experience.
