Power-pole?

Chris - Never would have thought it would be more secure. Thanks for the info.

It also cuts down on the stress that the pole will put on the transom. If you got a shallow boat, no need for the XL. If you got a bay boat, the XL all the way. Use one on Gary F’s Sterling 180 TS w/ motor bracket. It’s really nice. BTW, I wouldn’t get rid of the cajun, I still stake the front for correct casting angle and use the pp for the rear. They work a lot better together than one or the other. That pole also work s well when poling in the wind, kind of like power steering!

you definately want to get the motor bracket

I’m now at www.teamcharlestonmarine.com

Chris - why the motor mount? What’s the advantage over the transom mount other than lack of holes in transom? Also, how long for y’all to install?

that alone in my opinion is worth it. reduces install time its a much more secure install

I’m now at www.teamcharlestonmarine.com

wrong on both points

He is right if you have a lift and it is stronger with the engine mount but what I am wondering is how in the heck is Chris V selling Powerpole XLs for $1000. I am a huge dealer and we order them by the truck load and we do not pay that little for them. Typically with remote, bracket and installation it is between 1500 and 1900

From reds to marlin you got it.

P-K, please elaborate.

there is a new 4’ model coming out soon also, perfect for smaller boats and depths

www.flyfishingsc.com

How deep can the water be for the “8 foot” PP to hold firmly in mud/sand bottoms typical around here. In summary does the typical setup hold in 6,8,10 ft. water. Assume limited windage, current.

You have to remove the engine to intall the mount. The engine is usually in place with 5200. Try it and tell us how easy it is.
Easier to drill holes in the transom and seal/mount with the Power Pole with 5200. Works for the engine, why not the Power Pole?

The engine mount version is not as stable as bolting straight to the transom. They wobble and break at times. The transom is secure enough for the engine, …

The only reason to use one of those engine mounts for a Power Pole is if you do not have a flat/vertical surface for a transom.

I bought my 8’ pro model a few months ago and I absolutely love it. The 8’ model goes approximately 8
, but it depends on where you mount it. I mounted mine all by myself to the rear of the boat, ran wires, hoses, and bolted on the pump kit. It is real easy, BUT I do recommend having another person to help you hold power pole and mark holes before drilling. It is a little hard to hold up and see if it is level or not marking holes, etc. The engine mount would eliminate this step though. .

Don’t waste your time on the 6’ model or anything shorter. You could get the sportsman’s model with the slower pump, but it will only be a few hundred less. Pump speed is not that important though…if it takes 4 seconds or 8 seconds…no big deal for me anyway. The pro models are painted and have a longer warranty period.

I have an 18’ flats boat and I wouldn’t want it any shorter. They hold great in mud, shells, sand, etc. I was very surprised.

If you have any specific questions about install or anything else…Send me an email off this site.

AGAIN…DO NOT WASTE TIME WITH THE 6’…PRICE DIFFERENCE IS NOT SIGNIFICANT. MOST PEOPLE THAT GET THE 6’ WISH THEY HAD THE 8’ER.

Do you have anything to back up your claim about the engine mount breaking? They do wobble a little but they are a whole lot stronger since a majority of boat builders make the center of the transom the strongest part. Taking a motor off is not that hard seeing how we do it everyday.

From reds to marlin you got it.

depends where you fish majority of the time too and if you have a poling skiff you do not want the powerpole to stick up over you platform.

PK
we have installed them both ways, and it is much faster to unbolt the motor install the mount, and put it back on. like whistling said, we do thiseverry day, and removing the motor isnt a big issue.

I wasnt pricing the 8’ remote XL
just the base price

chris … you’re a professional and have the hoist to do it… johnny ‘work on my own boat’ doesn’t.

i stand by my statement. the best place to mount a PP is directly on the transom.

au contraire … I have a 6 and would not have an 8.

Also, I use my power pole 95% of the time in 3 feet or less water. Extra 2 feet is useless for me. If I need to stay put in deeper water, I use the trolling motor

Also, an 8 would stand up higher than my poling platform.

just view from the other side of the fence …
