i am thinking of changing 30lb. mono to 30lb. power pro.
Has anyone had any problems with it? (knot break offs, tangles)
You will not regret switching to Power Pro! It is by far the best line I have ever used!
what are you putting it on?
do you always use a leader with it? Do you ever use it for casting like with a grub and if so how do you rig it.
I use braids, either Fireline or Power Pro. I always use a 24" mono or flouro leader attached with a double uni-knot before any terminal tackle/lures.
Palmetto,
Why do you tie the 24" mono on the end? Does it help in presentation or something? I always tie the line straight to the lure unless I am fishing for something bigger in which case I will tie it to a wire leader/bottom rig.
Power Pro is a great line no dought. You can use a leader but either way it works a lot better than Mono. A leader to Power Pro can give you a little bit of stretch when setting your hook and also can give you a better Presentation when working slower baits like Gulp shrimp and other jigs and such, but I have lots of luck when I tie right to the bait, but I did have lots of problems until I learned the speacial Knot that you need to use when using Power Pro. Not sure the name of the Knot but it comes in the pack of line… Hope this helps some.

Reverse Albright. A 20 lb. leader will break off if snagged up. Also I think power pro is visible in the water so the flourucarbon helps with the presentation. Doesn’t sink as easy as mono and if trolling for trout I switch back to mono.
The only complant is when the wind blows
So does the PP
so if i cast a lot it has mono (ie spinner bait ect)
if not PP
other than that its outstanding
(( Palmer Knot works fine))

I put power pro on my stradic and love it. The only thing is if you get hung up and don’t have a leader on it you will have a hard time getting it to break off. I ended up cutting my line when this happened.

take a 12 inch long peice of 2x2 with you so if you hang up you can wrap the line around it about 20 times then you can pull on it and break it of at the leader or the hook will usually break if you use a skinny hook. neaver grab the line and yank or wrap it around any fingers or any body part you want to keep. power pro is the best stuff since sliced bread but it will hurt you bad if you dont respect it.
Go with the high vis if you keep the line wet it will help with the wind knots I just pour a little water on the reel before my first cast and reel with the rod tip down. Use a leader I prefer the uni- uni knot.

Good stuff as said. After cast, pull a foot of line off against the drag before retrieving lure and along with the water trick, it will be harder to twist. I usually fish it with a leader.

the band* hoppymeister had a stellar post on this topic some time back. he listed all the tricks to eliminate the wind knottage. find that post if ya can, it’ll fix yo problems. did for me
PeaPod is that you on Pea’s Island?
I’ve been using both Suffix and PP but like the Suffix more. It seems to be a bit smoother and makes better knots. Both are good but use a leader for presentation.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.
