My OX66 200 Sent a rod out the side of the block and I would really like to buy a reman powerhead from a proven company. I cant afford to buy a new motor. I have found some online but do not know who has a good rep and who does not. If any mechanics read this and have a company they use please let me know.

This motor was rebuilt by a dealer in the upstate and did not run 100 hours. They sound like they are gonna do the right thing and get it fixed. I am not sure I want them to work on it anymore. Still waiting to get word on what they are going to do about it. I have a place at edisto and will not have a problem bringing it to charleston to be repaired If I have to. Thanks for your help and I may be in contact soon.
did they say why the motor came apart?
we do rebuilds all the time, but we do not warranty failures from overheat or dirty fuel
I bought the boat used from them and they said the motor checked out fine. 10 hours later in one cylinder the piston came apart they said because of a bad injector. We came to a agreement of repair cost and they rebuilt it. The cylinder that came apart had to be bored and a oversize piston was put in that one cylinder they said it would be fine they had done it before.20 hours after the rebuild i noticed the boat was just not running right and took it back to the shop the head was removed and that one cylinder had started to gald they said it may last and it may not and signed a letter saying that cylinder was galled. It looks like the cylinder was bored to thin or something and it cracked from the head end down into the cylinder about 2 inches in two diffrent places. It appears that water then started going into the cylinder through the cracks and the rest is history. I have not taken them the boat but it has been checked out. They got pics and detailed info. Just waiting to hear back at this point.
based on what you are telling me, I don’t see anything wrong with the approach they took to the initial repair. sounds like the application may not have been done exactly right.
