Prayers Needed for Strength

Hey Everyone. I want to ask that y’all would please pray for my wife and I and especially for our 4 yr old daughter. At the age of 18 months she was diagnosed with Juvenile Rumatoid Athritis in her left knee. She was put on anti-inflamatory meds and was given a steroid injection in that knee. Along with the JRA her eyes are in danger of becoming inflamed because of the JRA, so she had to go to both the Rhuematologist and Optomatrist every 3 months. After about 6 months her athritis went into remission. Last Sept her right knee started to swell and back to the dr we went. She ended up having that knee injected also. After 3 months it went back into remission. About Jan 17th we noticed her left knee was swollen and had alot of fluid on it. We called the specialist in Charleston and discussed our options. Over the weekend Shaye, my daughter, said that her wrist was hurting so I decided that on the next day the clinic was open that they were just going to have to fit me in seeing as I wanted to talk to the dr face top face anyhow. I am glad I did.

On Jan 21st, 2014 on Shaye’s 4th birthday we found out that her JRA came back not only in her left knee but was back in her right knee, left wrist, and left elbow. The dr sent Shaye out of the room to play with her nurses in her office cause she saw how upset it made me and she did not want Shaye to see daddy upset.

Needless to say her caregivers at MUSC are great and we love them. We now have to start Shaye on a weekly shot of Methotrexate for the swelling of her joints. Methotrexate is usually used in high doses for cancer patients but in very low doses for rhuematic diseses has been seen to actually reverse the damage to the joints.

Needless to say both mom and I need prayers for strength to be able to give her these shots and also to have faith that everything will be ok. And, for Shaye to understand that she needs this and that hopefully she will get used to it and not think that we are trying to hurt her when we go to give her an injection.

If you did no

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

The Rheumatology Docs at MUSC are some of the best in the nation! You’re in good hands!!

Praying for her healing and comfort, for your endurance and ministry to your daughter, and for the doctor’s to have wisdom. And above all, for Christ’s healing and redemption to carry you all.

Saying “I am offended” is telling everyone else that you cannot control your own emotions, and thus you need everyone else to do it for you.

Prayers sent, may God bless your little girl…

Consider it done. Kids should never have to go through these kinds of twist in life. Seeing kids hurting really pulls at the strings in my heart. I am lucky that my girls are healthy and we often take that for granted.

I hope that this will help get her healthy and stay healthy. I’m a leukemia survivor and also had a stem cell transplant at MUSC when I relapsed in 2011. I’ve been on methotrexate(pill form) along with a whole bunch of other chemos. Methotrexate was not aweful for me, but I’ve been through some rough stuff. I think I was taking 20 once a week or once every two weeks. It did make me feel bad from time to time but I was taking it with some other nasty stuff too. I feel like it’s usually harder on the family than it is on the patient. I’ll be praying for yall and if you need anything feel free to get ahold of me.

What a cutie! Be strong Dad, you are her rock! Love the folks at MUSC, they saved my granddaughters life

Prayers on the way, and will continue for her, AND your family. I wish children didn’t have to go through what we adults have to. Be strong! On another note… I’m out of the hospital. Surgery went well, and although sore, I’m blessed and thankful to still be here! Thanks for all your prayers, THEY WORK!!!

So how is our little angel doing??
