anyone have a brand or color of braid they prefer for bass fishing?
Sunline SX1.
Pound test-to-pound test, it’s a smaller diamter than PP, no waxy coating, less wind knots (and easier to pick if you do happen to get one), and it doesn’t dig into itself.
That said, I only use straight braid for my topwater rods. I use it as my main line for spinning rod setups (shakeyhead, drop shot, fluke…) but I use a fluorocarbon leader.
In the future, where every stranger poses a potential threat, knowing the predator mindset is the only safe haven.

X2 on the fluorocarbon leader.

whats the benefits of the leader never understood why I should use that
There’s 2 basic reasons that folks use leaders with braid, particularly fluorocarbon. One, they believe the fish seeing the line is a problem, or two, abrasion resistance. Braids are not as resistant to abrasion as other lines, and fluoro is generally better than mono.
I’ve been using the Sufix 832 braid and like it. Started with Power Pro, but I like the Sufix better. I don’t use leaders, as I’m one of those who believes the fish seeing the line doesn’t make any difference. I also don’t use fluorocarbon, but will say that if I was fishing in places with a lot of rock, concrete, oyster shells or such I would consider it for the abrasion factor.
I also use the hi vis yellow most of the time as I can see it better. I’ve caught plenty of fish with it & tying direct to the braid. I have some reels spooled with the lo vis green lines too, but only because I bought the line on sale, not because I worry about the fish seeing the line.
However, regardless of what your opinion is on either issue, having confidence in your setup goes a long ways. I know plenty of folks who say they’re not sure about either issue, so they use fluoro leaders. To each his own. Everyone tries to use what’s best for them & their mind set.
IMO, there’s no right or wrong, only what works for any of us.
I have Sufix ( green ) on a couple of Bass rods. I use a Mono leader( 3 or 4 ) feet long. I like the mono leader because I can retie ( change lures ) multiple times without wasting any of the braid to do so.
I have two of my Daughter’s Bass rods spooled with braid also…since braid has no stretch…she gets better hook sets
