Since we’re old, felt it prudent to wait until 1000 before we hit the water, and it was a very pleasant day. Fish weren’t overabundant, but they did show up often enough at the 60 foot cuts we anchored at. Caught 5, mostly shorts but did have a 23 incher and enjoyed several short strikes. Ended the day with a 13 pound catfish (which proves that my new gaff will suffice when Patti gets her big striper). Most were caught right off the bottom, but also had action on a free line.
Glad to here yall had a nice day.It was great meeting yall Sat.

Once the chill gets gone, its hard to beat the fall weather in Columbia. While action wasn’t super yesterday, it was enough to keep our attention I think our success in May, June, and July spoiled us and we thought it was going to be easy, but its still a lot of fun, and when the line starts stripping, one knows its bonus time, even if it is a cat.
We didn’t have high hopes in the “artificial” tournament, but the fish could have cooperated a little better just to help the egos. To expand our capabilities without going into a lot of additional expense, I’m toying with the idea of getting a couple of “Dipsy Divers” to see what that brings.
And I concur, it must be the “nice” people who gravitate to striper fishing.
Happy Birthday to those whom it applies. Semper Fi.
Thank you to the ones who protect our way of life.
