Pretty good Memorial Day

Left Shem creek just before 5 headed out to the 226. Got pounded on the way out so it was slow going but they were head on so we kept on going. Looked off the bow in about 140’ and saw some flyers and a surface hit. Decided to drop lines and troll out toward 226 from there. Picked up 1 before the second line was in the water. Picked up a double at 160’ only 1 hit the box. Another at 195’ and before 10 we had 3. Pushed out to 300’ and no other hits water temp falling. Made the turn headed back to shallow water temp hit 75.6 @ 160’ and bam double. Stayed between 150’ to 175’ the rest of the day. Hooked up on 15 total to include a triple and a quad (only 2 made it to the box) Rough on the way back in but the 23 footer got us back to the hill in one piece soaked but one piece. Total count 9 mahi 30 to 50# range. 3 lures and a rod tip to the fishing gods.

Pictures? Sounds like a nice day and the fish are not as deep anymore. Good way to save fuel.

9 between 30 and 50??? That’s studs right there.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day. FISH 24/7---- 25 Grady w/ a couple of Gas Guzzling 175 Johnsons “O-SEA-D” the old “Havanadaydream”

Pic?

We gonna need some pics to believe those numbers sir

Studs! We’ve been three times and haven’t seen one over 35# yet… Must not be holding my tongue right.

Is that 30 to 50 internet pounds or is that on the scale? That biggest dolphin pic in my report from sunday was 28# on the scale… everyone else in the boat said 40 right when he hit the deck. Nice work on the day in a 23 footer nonetheless. To catch 9 is very respectable of any size… It looked pretty from the beach with the family, as always

Hydrasport 230 WA
Johnson 200 Two Stroke

Let’s see… Guy’s first post and he fished all over the ocean, not on any particular feature, etc. Just a couple random dolphin from this spot and a couple random dolphin from that spot. And, in this random sampling of the ocean’s dolphinfishes, he just happened to catch all of his fish between 30# and 50# without managing to land one under 30#. I think we all know to divide by 2 on these types of poundage estimates.

Give me your expert opinion Skinneej. me being a notive not having a scale and the third time I’ve been on this particulat body of water. And if I am wrong I will truly mark it up to a fish story (sure no one has ever had one of those before)

26#

.

That must be the smallest. If you caught 9 of those, you did good anyway.

23#. Now show us the big one... Dolphin don't weigh as much as you think. When in doubt, there is always the bathroom scale...

See this post to see what 30-50# dolphin look like: http://old.charlestonfishing.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=146185

Hate to bust your bubble but that fish isn’t much bigger than 20lbs. That the 50lber ? Still better than a lot others did. Nice catch

I for one could give a sh@t if you over exaggerated the size, I think I got the drift of a good report!
