I found this online this morning… seems pretty interesting with multiple setups! Better than a striper tube? They even do multiple fish on one setup!
Cooler full of ice works well:smiley:
Seriously I do a lot of leadcore line fishing and this is the time of year I will keep fish. I have tried everyway I know to get them back but it still is a chore and you are never sure if it works. I do see a lot of dead fish on top of the water during late summer.
I do not think the striper tube works too well in hot weather

more of my concern is with the shorties… any stripers pver 21" get an ice bath.

Isn’t that illegal right now?

21" is ok on Murray, but not anything below.
That is an interesting setup, I guess it would be better than letting them go on the surface when they cant swim down and get out of the 90* water.

yeah… but wouldn’t you ahve to have a rod/reel dedicated to releasing the fish? i mean a 5-6# striper is a good bit bigger than the little bait… i mean wolf fish they show on that website. just seems like you’d have to have a BUNCH of weight to get stripes down fast.
Has anyone ever tried deflating the air bladder with a hypodermic needle?

neighbor across the street says they’ve done it for years. he’s an offshore guy, not sure what species or whatever. sea bass maybe? he targets bottom fish.
How about deflating the bladder with a filet knife ??[:0][:0]
The more you fish, the better you lie.

they show one setup with just a reel and clamp… you only have to get to 30’ deep… a 3oz egg sinker would get to 30 very quickly…

true, but when you have a 5# fish on there will it still sink fast enough?
hell… it’s worth a shot, fo sho.

anything that can help get the scoolies back down to a habitable depth is worth a shot… the fishery deserves at least a trial…hell…they’re only a few bucks…
of course for these to be put to a test, one must first catch some stripers.
that’s the problem i have with them. i’m afraid i’ll spend the few bucks and they will sit in the tackle box unused.
LOL!!
Come on now, you caught one back in January.
