Price For 1995 Mako 171 Angler

A friend is selling his 1995 Mako 171 Angler. I’ve fished the boat and interested but not sure what it’s worth. The boat is in great shape. It has a 1995 Yamaha 115 that has been maintained great and runs well. Recently painted, teak decks added, poling platform, trim tabs.

Very sound boat. He asking $6,500.

Thoughts on the price or boat?

I’ve been looking at the Mako 18 LTS boats but I would be spending closer to $15K - $20K for a used one and the idea of being on the water closer to $6k sounds a lot better.

The boat is based in NY.

Does that include a trailer? The price is really a bit high. NADA puts the boat and motor between $4400 and $5,200 depending on the options.

Be warned, 20 year old Makos are known for rotten transoms and decks. Look at it close. Probably about time for a new fuel tank, hoses and wiring also.

That does include trailer. Getting more info and pictures from him. He did a lot of work to the boat in the past including the new decks but not sure to what extent. He also owns a 43’ Merritt and maintains them constantly.
