Hey y’all,
I have been looking through posts and can seem to find the answers to my questions.
Is it safe and easy to go out Price Inlet to do offshore fishing?
(I have been through it once on a really rough day and was taking waves over the bow, so I am not sure if it’s always that rough through there or if its generally pretty calm.)
If it is safe to go out, is it a straight shot or is it like Dewee’s where you go a certain distance and then turn South to avoid running aground?
I also apologize if I placed this in the wrong area, just seemed when I was looking through other posts that were under the Inshore discussion, they didn’t really discuss going out to open ocean through Price Inlet.
Prices Inlet is safe and fine to run out of . It is a fairly defined channel but then you had to make nearly 90 degree turn to south to exit the channel and then loop around to port to head into the ocean. Go at low tide when its calm and figure it out for yourself and mark the channel.

A storm changed the inlet within the past 6 months or so, the south 90 is very shallow, and a defined channel is hard to find. Our past 2-3 trips out we’ve headed straight out to the bar and found a cut 15 deg or so to the northeast.
Was out tarpon fishing there last month at dead low tide and saw no channel I’d be comfortable navigating.

Should I go out as the tide is going out or wait until its at dead low? Also coming from Buck Hall, would it just be easier and safer to go through five fathom creek (I am assuming that’s the path the McClellanville shrimp boats take)?
