So pumped! Arrive at Buck Hall next Friday for five days disconnection from the real world. I asked about Bulls Bay last week, as it is where I’ve always fished. Looking at my charts, I noticed Price Inlet is the same distance south from me as the Cape is NE of me, but I’ve never fished in that direction…
Does anyone know if there are some tailing flats in that direction? Is the water cleaner?
Is it worth trying something new, and heading that direction?
My last few trips have been really S L O W fishing, and I’m begging for a bone or some advice. Thank you all. This is one of the busiest Fishing forums I have seen ever, so I really hope somebody sees this and can give me some guidance.
Fishing can be good. If you’re in the inlet, expect sharks and stingrays. If you fish the sandbars right you can find some good reds. Water is normally clean on an incoming tide especially closer to high tide. I’ve caught some nice flounder and trout in that area too. Also, for the places to look for tailers, most of what you see on google maps can hold fish if you know what a walkable flat looks like.
I second everything Pez said. I’d just add that it’s pretty sandy bottom. It can be difficult to set an anchor. Personally, I’ve never caught a red out there. Lots of shark.
Thanks guys, I was beginning to lose hope for lack of replies! I release everything, so nobody’s fish are going in a cooler (except maybe a flounder or two)… I should be able to get my skiff up on the flats with the tides coming at the end of next week. I thought it looked like on maps that there should be a fair number of potential flats in the area, it just gets so muddy from McClellanville to the lighthouse during spring tides that it frustrates the hell out of me. I wouldn’t mind sticking a big shark with one of my flies too, so if the water is a little cleaner there I could sight cast to them! Not really ever caught any trout near the cape either, so that would be cool too!
My baby gets her saltwater virginity taken next week, so far just been used chasing the landlocked stripers we have here in Tennessee. My wife let me buy my dream boat last year, this is the first new vehicle I’ve ever owned in my life. I’m completely in love with it! lol
Sweet rig! Love the color. That will be a very versatile rig for this area. There are stripers on the lakes too, so might be something you would have success with in the fall/winter.

Thanks Pez!
Where I live in East Tennessee, we have incredible fall and winter Striper action. Much of it is topwater, we even have a large transient population of seagulls that winter here. So I get to chase birds that are on the bait. Our lake record is 57lbs, a lot of big girls up here!
