primer bulbs sucked flat/vent line clogged?

On my 27 Sea Hunt GF with twin yamaha 200s, my two primer bulbs have been simultaneously getting sucked flat to the point that one of the engines has kicked off while underway. When I open the gas intake cap, air rushes in and the lines expand. I figured it was the vent but both the cap and screen were clean. I tried blowing into the vent line and can’t so its clogged somewhere. I know they have installed a carbon EPA filter in the vent line which is known to get flooded if overfilling the tank. I have them at the dry stack put fuel in and I would be surprised if they are topping off the gas but thats possible. Regardless, Im told if thats the problem, the gas should evaporate out of the filter and it should vent properly again. This has not been the case.Im not aware of any valves on the vent line that could be stuck but maybe someelse has had this problem. Any advice is much appreciated.

Sounds like a bad anti siphon valve.

Are both engines fed from the same tank? Does it run two lines from top of tank, one to each motor?

My point is that if it’s doing to BOTH bulbs, it’s an issue they both share. They certainly share a vent, and those things fail easily, and create problems like yours.

If both engines share a SUPPLY line, with an anti-siphon valve, I would look at that.

Check the vent line for kinks?

If you can get to it, for temporary trouble shooting purposes, I’d bypass the carbon capture canister. All you’d need is a union the correct size for the fuel line and hose clamps (might be able to use the ones on the canister). Run it long enough to see if the problem persists.

IF I RESPOND IN ALL CAPS, ITS NOT ON PURPOSE, AND I AM NOT YELLING

Thanks to everyones replies. Im leaning towards the vent filter . Am I misunderstanding something in that the siphon valve (if I have one) would be between the tank and the motors. If thats the case, then wouldn’t the vent be assumed open and opening the cap have little effect on resolving the vacuum? Im going to have the dealer take a look when I get my next 100 hr work coming up in a few.

anti siphon valve is on top of the tank where the pick up tube connects to the fuel line.
if anti siphon valve was the problem, opening the gas cap would not fix the problem.

Oneof my tanks quit working on a used boat I bought. I could blow air from the fuel filter back into the tank, but suction didn’t work. I had to get to the fuel tank and when taking the line apart, someone put a paper towel in the gas tank, probably by accident and it eventually got in the line and stopped it up. I removed the paper and so far it has worked normal. One day it may happen again… It was lodged in a 90 degree elbow

I’ve found a round piece of alum. from the top of an additave bottle stopping mine! Crazy things happen. Good luck.
