Pro Angler on roof rack?

I have a new Hobie Pro Angler on the way and want to carry it on a set of Thule square bars mounted on my truck camper shell. My question is, does anyone have a recommendation as to what the bar spacing should be for the Pro Angler? I have to drill and mount artificial rain gutters on top of the shell and only want to drill once lol.
Thanks,
Andre

You could look up the specs on the hobie/thule bars. I would wait till you get the yak. Congrats on the new boat.

I have a pro angler. They are a monster. I used ladder racks for the first week I had it, that was about 6 days to long. I bought a trailer for it. Way too bulky to be taking on ladder racks, too hard to get on and off.

You could get a bed extender for your truck. I have one and it works great. They have them at time out sports.

If two wrongs don’t make a right, try three.

Spacing is 12" on center. Picture of PA on bunks. I have 2 PA’s on a modified tandum SeaDoo trailer.
100 lbs before you add anything. If there is a ramp where I’m going it’s so easy to back them in the water.

keep that yak low. It’s too heavy to heft up on a truck. i got my bed extender at harbor freight for $29 a few years ago. Works great and can haul 2 yaks.
If you had the trailer, you could always leave your yaks strapped and ready to go.

That $29 extender still working and hasn’t rusted out?

Yep, works great. I store it under my lean-to behind the toolshed.

I wouldn’t worry about loading it on a roof rack if you have a truck. That is a long way to lift it if you do not have to. I would recommend putting in the bed of the truck. I normally put mine in without an extender and use the front handle to run the tie downs to the hooks in the back of the truck. I just did about 2000 miles in two weeks with it like this with no problems. I have been traveling with it this way for several years and have not had any problems.
