PRO-LINE 23 Sport Fish ???

Does anyone have any experience, knowledge or opinions on a Pro-Line 23CC Sport-Fish ? If so, would you please share them with me. I’m about to pull the trigger :stuck_out_tongue: on a Pro-Line 23 with a 225 Honda, but I’m also considering a Pro-Line 24 with twin Yamaha 150s and I’m trying to consider price difference, fuel economy, safety and maintenance. Any help would be appreciated.

cut my teeth on my dads older 23’ cuddy with the single outboard. skiped many a day of school to fish that boat offshore I loved it. never had any problems it held 100 plus gals of gas and went any where in any sea. If price is not a issue go with the twins for offshore. My dad sold the boat to buy twin powered boat and made money on the older Proline. by the way my dad was a ranger in the Army.

I have a 01 23 sport with twin 150’s. 140 gallon tank overall length 24’ 11". I’ve got no complaints from the boat. Tops out at 50 cruises 30-35 nicely. Not the dryest ride but i never saw a center console that size that was. I went from a 16 footer to a 21 footer to my 23 sport. When i bout my twenty one footer someone told me no matter how big of boat you buy you will always want a bigger one soon after. So far he’s right. Looking to get a bigger one again.

A long, long, story…but we got caught in a severe T-storm, in the early ‘90s, in a 23’ Pro-Line. Crashed off the crest of one huge wave, onto the crest of the next!! Split the hull all the way across (right under the console) and 1’ up either side. We’d have made it back to the dock, if we hadn’t run out of gas at the jetties! Not sure if this is the type of testimony you were after, but we did make it back in.

Great boats for the dollar. CC are known to be a little wet but solid and good ride. Have owned one myself and the current owner still loves it. You have to decide what your primary use will be to determine which size. Also keeping in mind maintenance, storage, hauling vehicle, fuel burn, repower expense when the time comes, etc

I have a 2005 Sport 23 with a 200hp Honda. Bought it new in spring of 2005 in Fl.Keys. For the money it has been a great boat. Storage a little lacking. Agree with Cpt Steve, can be a wet ride, but have installed curtains. I think the Ttop is fairly larger than most and it is some sort of plastic or PVC material. Boat came with every option except trim tabs, get those if you can. I see the newer versions(2008-present) of this boat have enclosed transom, larger fuel tank (mine is only 90gal)side entrance on console. My center console has a larger door on front, instead smaller one on the side. I have the leaning post with the integrated livewell which can be uncomfortable with wheel position on the console.

If we would have had a larger truck at the time might have bought the Sport 24, more storage on it, larger tank, enclosed transom and trim tabs. (had twin 150mercs on it).

Other than the lack of storage(have a large cooler for the fish), trim tabs(which have been to lazy to get), and the placement of the fuel/water filter. haven’t had any problems. The Honda motor has been great, quiet and fuel efficent too.

good luck
