Problems trailering tri hull

I bought this boat about 6 months ago and I have always had trouble putting it back on the trailer. It has 2x4 bunks so I was thinking abut changing those to 2x6. Would this make it easier to trailer my boat?

Thanks

Won’t make it any easier to load, but will make you have to back it further into the water. What is the problem? Getting it lined up with the bunks? Are you loading it in a cross current?

I can attest that 14’ tri-hulls can be a major PITA to trailer. We used to have a similar size/shape Boston Whaler (which I sorely miss!), and getting that thing on the trailer right was tricky as heck sometimes.

My suggestion is that you look for side bunks to put on it, especially if you have to do this in current.

My neighbor has 2 of them and Redfish is right. The taller boards make you have to back it further down and the side bunks is a must because of the hull design. Depending on the tide stage or angle of ramp I catch hell with my s10 trying to get far enough back. Almost needs an extension on the trailer. He did all of his boats like that and a couple of them sit way too high.

Side bunks are the only way to go never have problems again.

What year 50 is that, I have a 1997 BF50 on my boat, still runs great! 5 gallons lasts all day!

I have a set of side bunks you can have if they’ll work for you. I’m in Summerville.

Lol, Eric if he doesn’t take you up on that, message me. I’m in Summerville too and could use a set (although he definitely needs them more, my semi-V isn’t terribly hard to trailer).

Redfish, give him a day or so to respond. If he doesn’t want them, they’re yours. Message me later. Someone gave them to me but I can’t use them.

This is how I configured my trailer for my tri-hull Whaler. It works for me I have no problems trailering it. Hope it helps. You can get the bunk holders and carpet at West Marine. Mine are just 2 x 4’s I made my own guides using galvanized pipe and JB Weld.
