If you’re using Cannon’s Dual Rod Holders on your downrigger, you risk losing your rods and reels.
These units are made with PLASTIC collars that have a history of cracking where the set screws are located. Mine cracked after only five uses. Luckily, I did not have a rod in the holder at the time but there are plenty of others on the blogs that have lost expensive rigs.
I contacted Cannon and after a lot of denial and excuses, they reluctantly agreed to refund my purchase price. They are well aware of the problem but only wanted to send me another plastic (replacement) part.
When the collar cracks, anything in the rod holder can go overboard.
I went back to the single rod holder set up.
