‘Got an 88hp (a 90 for all intents and purposes) Johnson on the back of a 17’ Henry O with an old worn aluminum prop. The old prop is slowly developing more and more wobble… The HenryO has a deep entry and keeps a lot of dead rise at the transom. The motor is adequate for the boat. With the current prop with full fuel, gear, coolers, and 3 people, she max’s out about 5000 rpms and makes about 33 mph. She comes out of the hole nicely. She cruises at 25 mph at 3900 rpm nicely planed off. So, I think the 13 1/4" x 17" prop is about the right size.
The questions… Would a stainless prop (same size) give me a little more speed, maybe 1-2 more mph? (It would be a little stiffer… might get a little less slip.) If not, I’ll go with another aluminum for the next 15 years.
And, does anyone have any reviews, good or bad, for different propeller brands?
