Propellers

Do you gents know anyone in Beaufort or Charleston that does propeller work. Trying to find best application for mine with the jackplate. The prop I have now has no markings so i don’t know what pitch and diameter it is and it’s causing blowout. Looking to get a four bladed prop with cup with catch better and give me no blowout.

Take it to Champion Marine Machine shop in Savannah. Good work reasonable prices and they can do a lot while you are eating lunch downtown. Look for the sign with a very large propeller out front.

Skips Propeller in North Charleston is who I use. He sells a lot of brands, and will let you trade out a new prop until you get the one that works best. Last summer he didnt stock 4 blades though because everyone came in wanting one and then ended up with a 3 blade because of the speed loss. He may have ordered a few for stock by now though. He can inspect and measure the prop you have to let you know what you are starting with. Very smart guy, great business.

thank you gentelman. Talked to the guys at Power tech and for jackplate high engine mount and skinny water application they recommended four blade 13" diamter prop with 15 pitch. I will call these guys tomorrow and see what they recommend. Three diffrent choices to pick from.

Really? A 4 blade 15 pitch? Hope you aren’t in a hurry. Seriously though, glad you got it worked out. Will they let you swap the prop if it doesn’t work?

I have a 4 blade pt prop I want to sell. I run mine on a 90 Yamaha 2 stroke. Let me know if interested. I can get the model number for you.

I sure hope so otherwise it’s a expensive experiement. So do you think i should change the pitch? Two sons what model do you have? Let me know and then we can see what we can do if it fits.

Man you are absolutely right! I called him up and he told me and taught me some stuff. He told me not to buy anything and waste 450bucks on a prop until he looks at it. He can add cup to my prop or recommend me something better!

Glad he is going to take care of you. I think the Charleston residents don’t know what a jewel they have here at Skips for prop tech.

please PM me for price. Looked it up, might work.

That 3 blade he listed looks like a high rake prop. It would like running higher on the water with a jack plate. Or atleast my OMC Raker did on mine. However, a new Stilletto prop has some high rake as well if that 17 pitch doesn’t work out. But yeah, that 3 blade PT looks like a good setup if you have a lightweight boat with a 90-115.

I have a 900# 17’ flats boat with a high mount jack plate and I run a 17 pitch Stilletto, and a 23 pitch Raker. But I also have trim tabs so porpousing isn’t a problem with the higher pitch.

I have a 16 foot Dolphin super skiff with a 70 Yamaha 2 stroke. The hull weight i believe it’s around 700 lbs. Well I may have to meet up with him and test both of those props that he has has see which one works the best.
