Proper etiquette

If you are under way and approach a line of poles do you

a. go around the poles on either end of the line
b. run straight through the center of them

I was on Bulls Bay yesterday when someone run straight through the middle of my poles. I did indicate to the driver that I was not very happy with that, but he did not care at all. Was I wrong ?

Placement of poles is key to that question. I always go around poles unless the ding dong sets up right in a channel.

X3 Unfortunately a lot of people do set up in the channel

Could have been me. I do not alter my course for poles. If i did running through cow pens, muddy bay, and bulls bag would be a nightmare. When poles are set running in all directions someone’s will get passed through.Do you think it scared your shrimp away?

The way everything was going yesterday NO I do not think it scared the shrimp away. I am just trying to understand what is proper.

Some people slow down when they get close to other boats, out of respect, but throwing a huge wake. Others stay on plane and fly by and the one sitting gets upset bc it was fast and close. Being every situation is unique I think all we can do is look out for each other as best we can. Sometimes we have to chalk it up no harm no foul. I guess unless it’s obvious some guy is a jerk, he may actually in his mind not hurting anything

Could have bee me too. If so I apologize, but it was unavoidable due to depth and number poles in the channel.

I think it is just good sportsmanship to go around. " DON’T BE AN A$$, GO AROUND TO PASS "…It only takes a few seconds to alter course.

I try to avoid at all cost and go around. If you are in the channel then that’s a different story I usually make the person aware “sorry but you’re in the channel and I cant go around.”

How was the shrimping in the Bay? If was slow for me opening day and I have been waiting for better reports.

Might not scare shrimp away, but it might scare the bait balls away…

Slow down to idle, go far wide around shrimper’s, and fishermen. I have seen a big wake spoil the fishing too many times.

The faster you go the less your wake unless at idle speed.
Please don’t plow by at half idle nose in the air pushing a 3footer behind you.
