Property Taxes on Boat

Roughly what are the property taxes on a one year old boat, such as 20’ CC, which might sell for about $30,000?

I’m in Greenville County, but is there a difference, from one county to another? How much do taxes decline as the rig ages?

Thanks,
OM

Maybe $1083 , they probably have their own charts for the value of your boat , well Pickens county does cause they charged me more than I paid for it .

It varies by county and you can call your county tax assessor’s office and they will tell you how much the taxes are on a particular boat.

They can also tell you approximately how much the taxes will go down as the boat ages; HOWEVER, while the rate remains the same, the actual tax you pay is based on a “millage rate” (percentage) which can be changed by your county government according to their needs.

So - while the value of the boat may go down with age, it’s possible for the cash amount of the property tax to go up. Not much usually, but it can happen. Your county tax assessor’s office can explain it to you. They explained it to me, that’s how I know.

In Charleston county its too much. 3 year old Suzuki 225’s- $ 465 each. 15 year old 30 foot center console 300 ish. Glad they don’t tax the trailer, but give them time.

Dorchester county was around 600 or 700 bux my first year of ownership on a similar boat.
