I know some of them, but may be missing something! Lots of moving parts! What do you do if you lose a roller or one is missing when you go to load your boat? Any more? I also would think that the rollers would tend to put dents in the hull if the boat was stored on them for any length of time? Any thoughts on the best Brand Name trailers on the market?
Although not from personal experience, I did learn that you do not want to take the winch strap off before backing down the boatramp… I saw someone do this once, it wasnt pretty!!
A bad day fishing is much better than a good day at work.
I hear Loadmaster trailers out of Tampa are about the best on the market. The products look great and seem to have great customer service.

I recently purchased a “new to me” boat and it came with a brand-new roller trailer. I wasn’t real keen on the trailer at first, but the more I use it, the more I like it.
Loads and unloads really easy. As stated already, DON’T UNDO THE WINCH!!!
My 218 Sailfish will unload itself on a slightly sloped ramp.
Another good point with the roller trailer, It makes cleaning the boat a lot easier. The bottom is more accessable.

I have seen them do a lot of damage to hulls when not set up just right. They create point loading hard spots that can really mess up a thin hull. Bunks distribute the weight more evenly and are easier on the boat. Some boat hulls are much thinner than others.

Cracker, that’s what I thought also! Seems as though the rollers would make a lot of small dents or stress points all over the hull!
Exactly. Some hulls are tough enough to handle it, but many are not.

Some hull warranty’s are voided if roller trailers are used! Read the fine print!

Love the roller tra. under my 17 Whaler . Once my brother unhooked the strap as I was backing down the ramp, dumped the boat on the ramp in a skinny minuit sure was glad I had a bracket and the motor was trimmed all the way up. Glad we were at a crowded ramp and there was enough people to lift up the boat and put back on the tra. Now I don’t un hook it till it is in the h2o. I can unload and load without getting the axil wet!
You need to consider the price of roller replacement also. I had one under an older boat and a lot of the rollers were near the end of their life. Started pricing the parts and was a little taken aback. Luckily I blew the motor on the boat and sold it before that time came.
Ramlin, Ameratrail, Continental. In that order. Silicone the bunks and the boat will slide right off without having to dunk the wheels/hubs, and it will load with way less trailer in the water as well.
I highly recommend them especially for heavy boats. I have a 17’ Key West and it makes unloading/loading easier. You don’t have to back in the water very far. I haul mine strapped to the trailer for good practice. The only thing I would change is the color of the rollers. I have black and they sometimes leave streaks like a shoe would on a floor. I would recommend the clear ones. There has been no damage to my hull. The rollers do cost a little but what in/on/around a boat doesn’t?!?!

I had a 91 Dixie Bluefin 21’ 4.3L I/O with a roller trailer. I could load and unload the boat without putting the trailer wheels in the water. It came with the boat new but I had to really strap it down when traveling. I sold it before any issues developed with the trailer. I liked it.
