Pulled the trigger....

So after all the research I’ve been doing, I hope this works out…Appomattox had a brand new Moken 13 on eBay for $650 obo. I did some research and found great reviews but noone around here uses them sooooo why not be the first? Its a 4hr hike so I called em up and said I’ll bring ya $450 cash today…I was told to cmon…now I figure for that kinda money, I’ll take a shot in the dark…on the way home now, got a free set of roof pads and the boat looks sweet. I found out it’s an 08’ but new and still under warranty, oh well I guess. I love the glove box and open now but I may miss the hull storage. Seems to be a sweet boat. Anyone have any experience with these? Good bad or otherwise I’m curios…I’ll have it on the water this weekend and post results.

Here’s a link to a cheesy video I did last night

I am still in the “looking” stage for a nicer yak. The Feel Free Moken 12 Angler is one I really like the looks of and is still on my short list. I really like some of the unique features. The only bad I have heard (I believe it was TooBusy but my apologies if I am wrong) was that it is slooow. I guess with the weight and payload capacity that stands to reason. I plan on finding a day when I can come down and check out the Moken and several other yaks. I am considering a Malibu Stealth, a WS Tarpon 120 and possibly a Native Manta Ray 12. Enjoy your new boat and let us know how you like it. The Moken seems to be a model that isn’t well known around here so it will be nice to get some first hand info about it.

Ya, I read that people say it’s slow but owners have all said it’s not at all, I guess we will see. Give Appomattox a call up in Farmville and see what they got i know they had a few camo ones cheap, this is a new old stock boat but for 472$ out the door i have no complaints

Are there any scuppers in that front tank well?

Ya, check out the video link the drainage is phenomenal through out

Nice lookin yak really, but good God all mighty those handle areas must be a royal pain in the keester for molding! Good concept for the handles tho, inexpensive, no parts to break.

It probably is a pain to manufacture but the molded handles was one of the things I thought was cool about it. Good tie down points when transporting.

That front tank well is cool! I never use my front hull storage in either of my yaks but that would be an excellent place to put a cooler or my five year old fishing buddy! I have a WS Pamlico 160 tandem that I would like to get rid of. This could be a good replacement boat. Let us know how your first outing goes. Good luck to ya.

Anyone used the Waterline Tankwell coolers? I think one would look great in my front tankwell!

I like the way the front tankwell looks - would be a good place for a kid or dog to sit…or a cooler for fish. The molded handles look cool, too.

I almost got the 12’ Moken at Sea Kayak Carolina. They have several in stock. Ended up getting a new Manta Ray 14 though. Can’t wait to take it out. Anyone know where to buy a kayak crate that is built? Feeling lazy…

I almost bought one of those too. I really liked most everything about the boat. I ended up with mine mainly becuse of price and its rep for being pretty quick.

Let us know how it does in the water!

We’ve got a few things at Time Out. Anywhere from $50-$150 (for the cheaper ones, you’ll need your own standard crate to drop in). Most of our models are from Precision Pak, as well as a few styles from Native.
