The swaying could be from the load rating on the tires. This relates to sidewall stiffness, and that directly relates to your truck feeling planted in the rear while going down the road with a heavy load. A lot of 1500 series trucks come with soft sidewall tires to help the truck ride more like a car.
All the “use second gear” and ride the e-brake tricks may work to get up the ramp, but thats annoying. I would check and see if you can get a softer compound rear tire. Also, tires have a wet traction rating, so maybe you could peruse tirerack.com and see how your tires rate.
So, softer compound, stiffer sidewalls, and weight in the back.

What we used to do was to have someone in the boat with motors running and boat in gear … When signal was given throttle up the boat and push boat, motor and truck to get some momentem to help truck up the ramp. I don’t know what to do if your are alone except to ask a frind to go… can I be your friend?
Nothing a good set of Michelin LTX/MS tires won’t fix. Like a good radio while offshore you can’t put a price on your life. Spend the dough on a good pair of shoes for your truck and you will see a world of diffrence.
Wow, I got into this topic late. My dodge had the same problem with swaying at highway speed when I got it. I adjusted the winch post forwards, but changing to a higher load rating tire is what actually made it drivable over 50mph. I use the dawhoo river landing, and the ramp is always steep and muddy. I live on a dirt road and my drive is a steep incline. I couldnt get the boat in the drive without the tractor. I added a limited slip carrier to the rear, and I couldnt be happier. It also helped with the high speed towing. Much more controllable and I am certain that I will not get stuck.
Also… My motor had the same issue you are describing and it turned out that a cable tie was too tight on the fuel line. Look for kinks in that fuel line.
From the pics you posted, it looks like your tires are P265/70/R17. The sidewalls in these tires are severely under rated for pulling a rig like yours. This is most likely the cause of the swaying on the highway, and moving the winch post forward will only increase the problem. From what I’ve been told, the P on the tire means passenger vehicle or a car. Try a set of tires marked LT meaning light truck, with a much more substantial sidewall. I didn’t read all the post so don’t know if you figured it out yet, but first thing I would tell you is do not “burn rubber” if you are peeling out you have no traction. When you start to and are not moving stop and gradually apply pressure to the gas pedal. That truck should pull that boat out no problem.
Move the boat forward at the winch stand until the bunks are even with the transom of the boat. Will not have to move it far maybe 1 inch. Had the same problem with my 2486 Triton until I got more weight on hitch. Looks like the rear trailer tires are carrying more load than the front, sliding boat will help that. Make sure your trim tabs are not on the bunks. If that doesn’t work change receiver hitch to a drop hitch and change the center of gravity. A 1500 vehicle should be fine for local travel but you need a 2500 for the road. Find out the weight of your boat and trailer combined, you may need to go to a weighted tag.
