your current tires are lacking tread eventhought they look like they still have a few miles still left on them.
I have a 04 dodge ram and put nitto tires on it 2 years ago it has pulled everything from 3 horse trailer to a 25 foot contender they even have gotten me out of a few mud holes. I got them at tire kingdom after a week of price comparison they were the cheapest they are a 10 ply compared to goodyears they are 8 ply.

Not sure if I should do this but, after dunking the boat at a nearby landing to pull the boat up tight to the newly positioned wench, using BadHabit’s advice on breaks slowly letting off after putting down the led in 1st, I drove back to Mt. P in 2 gear with the overdrive on (good? don’t do it again? I don’t know…). Regardless, it worked, a little shakey, but not bad at all. I almost felt safe so even managed to squeeze in a few text messages on the ride back.
Anyhow, what do you think of my handiwork? I think I did a mighty fine job if I don’t say so myself… I just hope it doesn’t backfire.

The 2nd gear tip was only for pulling the boat up the ramp from the water–not for driving on the roadway. Just use 2nd gear on the ramp if you can’t stop your tires from spinning in 1st. I wouldn’t drive around in 2nd gear on the road at traffic speed. For the road, just put it in drive and turn on the trailer-pull switch so that the trans doesn’t go into overdrive. The switch turns overdrive off for trailering (and some might also delay shifting un

Sounds like this could be the ticket, along with some good tires . If your tire are spinning on mud/etc on the ramp at low tide. When they start spinning, you apply the brakes and keep on gas. This stops the truck but keeps the tires spinning, which will eventually catch on the cement once all mud/ect is gone and it is just rubber to cement. Also, the rubber from the tires will be hot and stick to surface better. Sounds like it would work to me.
Looks like an ok job to me… Did moving the winch post help with trailer swaying back forth at all? Once you get her up the ramp put it in drive and make sure the overdrive is OFF when towing. Overdrive on while towing is harder on your transmission.

I pull a Scout 282 Sportfish with a Ford f-150 2wd. Never had an issue even at deal low with 150 gallons on board. Mu guess is something is out of wack. I know there are places you can go where they will balance your trailer on a scale to get the correct tongue weight. That may help.
I use a tundra 4x4 to launch my 28 bertram on any tide but cant pull it out at my ramp except on high when full of fuel, ice and gear even locked in low 4x4,have no broblem with my 3500 chev duramax tho!The weight and lenghth make a lot of differance! Good luck and stay safe.

I’m guessing you are messing with us. Otherwise, good job on the elbow grease.

How much did that adjustment make your truck squat in the rear? Don"t want swaying in the front because of too much weight in the rear. Be careful Heather and play it safe with that rig. Now you may have to slide that post back a couple inches at a time if it starts to feel like steering is loose to where it sways. Can always beef up rear shocks if needed and leave trailer alone if the adjustment helped.

- I’d rather be a free man in my grave than living as a puppet or a slave.
you don’t stop the truck by applying the brakes- you only slow the wheels so they won’t spin. it’s not drag racing- you’re not trying to heat up the tires for better traction- only to control wheel spin.
it works under the same principal as traction control on new cars.

a long time ago a smart old man told me if I got stuck in the mud to engage the emergency brake halfway and it would help. It seemed to work once…

I thought I did a good job with the wench relocation? …
Still doesn’t solve the most concerning issue at hand - the port engine shutting off when at low speeds or idle.
Then gotta pump the bulb to be able to start it up again…

Have ChrisV look at your boat,i have no advice on the truck…saw you on 526 glad i was going the other way.
See about putting a locker in the rear end of the truck. Check with the guys @ Lowcountry 4X4 @ palmetto Ford. They will give you the best advice on getting traction . Ditch the Kumhos go for the tallest tire that will fit your rims ( will lower the gear) start in 2nd gear to avoid whell spin, but really check the guys @ Lowcountry about an electric locker for the rear end.

Did you not test run the boat before you bought it? Survey, etc.? Surely that problem would have shown up prior to purchase.
Pretty boat, hope you have fun with it.
I am no expert at marine engines, but this could be a fuel pump issue, or fuel filter. Hence higher rpm equals increased fuel suction from the engine, at lower might not be enough to keep it going.
That is a cool boat! If you need a truck for the summer you can borrow my tundra, she will pull it. Good luck with the boat pulling. If I see you at the landing and you need help I always have my tow strap. But if I help, you have to give me a ride in the Palmetto.

PLEASE!!! Stop texting while you"re driving, PERIOD!! Whether you’re hauling a boat or not. It’s bad enough with people being distracted while talking on the phone and driving.
I’ve had many close calls on the road due to the other driver being on the phone or texting, and I really don’t want to end up being a statistic because of people like you. Thanks
