Punished Twice

So I guess the fact that there were ZERO other boats at the south end of BB yesterday afternoon should have been a clue. It was really really rough on the bay. We searched around for a calmer spot. No luck, so we headed back to Garris landing. Well, we’ve got all this shrimping gear out, so we head to the harbor. It was pretty snotty everywhere but Crab Bank, so we set up there to get out of that NE wind. 15 total shrimp. 15. A total of about 8 hours on the water for 15 shrimp. Didn’t look like many other of the boats on the Bank were doing so well either. Hope you other folks do better than we did.

Fished the Cooper and the Wando yesterday and it was pretty breezy. Made me wonder what BB and the harbor were like. Now I know.

Bushy Park was a windy mess yesterday as well. We fished for a few hours with only a single horse mullet in the cast net to show for it.

Water at Bushy just seems to be way lower in salinity. I don’t see nearly the shrimp or saltwater fish population there that I saw this time last year. Last year I was catching sea robins, sea trout, flounder, and menhaden in my cast net at the pier, this year I haven’t caught a single saltwater fish (other than mullet, which can live in straight freshwater).

Crabbed muddy bay/Cowpen are with my daddy yesterday…saw boats everywhere…wind was howling…waves were lapping like a rabid dog at the skiff and I was thinking…“really”??? Hope everyone stayed safe and that someone caught something. I do throw a couple times.for enough to fish with…few and mixed.
