Am doing Punta Cana first week in April. Is the offshore worth it that time of year?
Is there any opportunity to catch fish off the beach or in salt ponds or lagoons, ie snook, baby poon, etc. ? Thanks.
I believe there are golf course ponds there with snook and tarpon. I saw it on this site somewhere a while ago?
Seems like I read that too somewhere, something about Jose on the Spanish Fly show doing that. Wish I knew which golf course that is my kind of fishing actually
Is that the place in the Dominican Republic? They were slaying snook in those ponds.
Was in the DR at PC about 8 years ago. Didn’t take the fly rod but took a spinning rod. Would get up early, walk the beach, cast a silver spoon with scale reflectors out as far as I could and then run it back across the top of the water. I caught some jacks and spanish. It was fun.
Not sure about the poons or snook in the ponds but worth researching.
Offshore bite is great then. Lots of white marlins, some blue marlins, and dolphins
