eased out to a near shore reef to try some spades, couldn’t find any cannon balls, got some poggyes and had some shrimp along. anchored at the frist spot long enouph to go through a 5 lb block of chum. small sharks, bsb’s & pinfish. at 11:30 we moved a few hundred yards and put out a purple balloon over a poggey & another chum bag. it wasnt long before the spades came up & it was non stop for the next several hrs. we caught big(up to 11 lbs) spades till we were tired of catching them! lots of boats started anchoring up next to us and it looked like the tailrace during the shad run. many times most boats had two hookups at a time.the patient maker was there before us and we saw them have a ball catching two 30+lb cobia! then the beer started flowing. we had one hit a 2 lbs ringtail on the way up, that was a good 40 lbs. had him to the boat twice before he spit out the now scaled ringtail out with a 1/0 hook still in his mouth. everone was hoopen & a hollern, coaching each other on and was a grand show of sportsmanship. when germs caught one on the fly everyone applauded. I had a ball fishing with mega bite, we will remember that one for a long time!
spade fishing is one of the most fun things to do…we were going yesterday too but had already fished three i a row and decided to stay home…now I wish we had gone! we taught some guys how to catch them last time out…they were near-by watchig us and catching nothing…a baot position change closer to us…some hooks and advice and they were set…and had a blast…was as much fun to wach them as to catch them ourselves:smiley:

Wow Mega, what a small world! No, I just hunted at a friends on Edisto. I ended up getting put on half time right after I talked you last, and I just changed locations. Hopefully I will be able to get on a club this year! Thats cool that it was you, Im glad you told me! What a day! Bug seems like quite a character!
