Split what do you think Chunky and Pallet will bring back tomorrow after their dive trip?

Just for clarification(mine as well), aren’t those Grasbys(sp) instead of strawberry grouper(aka Rock Hinds)??

I’ve seen red grouper, red hinds, rock hinds, and coneys called Strawberry Grouper, and now Grasbys(I think).

And btw, nice fish.

So the graysbys have the dark brown/amber spots? I called them rock hinds, but I was told they were strawberries. Never caught two in one day really. Only caught multiple kitty mitchells (speckled hinds) as far as the exotic kind of grouper go, but haven’t caught any of them yet this year. Weird.

I think the graysby is a good bit lighter colored, but perhaps they change color with the bottom like the gags do. These are dark red with amber spots.

Look at the fish id pages here on CF, grasbys have rounded tailfins and that dark red color, while rock hinds have a mottled look and red spots. While this is not a very good picture of the rock hind(kinda pale), it showes the red spots that give the strawberry its name.

The two we had look exactly like the CF fish ID photo for graysby. Cool.

Thanks for letting me know about that. I have always thought any of those dark ones with spots that weren’t green like the kitties were rock hinds.
