Capt. Rick allowed myself along with my girlfriend and another lady friend on board today to locate some good bottom spots closer in than the ledge. We headed out at about 28kts and tried a good looking spot. Pulled up everything but grouper it seemed… even a short red snapper. Released many triggers, porgys, BSB, grunts, shark, remora, and I’m probably leaving out more. Oh yeah, some reef donkeys of course. So we bumped around on another couple spots until we got a nice 32" scamp on the jig. We set up shop there and pulled another couple fished and then headed on in. Scheduled for a later release into the grease: a couple big BSB, two B-liners, two big grunts, and two scamp. Ran in at 35kts, and made for a good shorter day than running all the way to the ledge.
Forgot one of the highlights- pulling up what we thought was gagzilla and discovering it was a 6-7’ nurse shark. …
Sounded like everybody that made it out to 125’ got into the dolphin today. There were a patchy weeds and plenty of flyers where we were but nothing substantial enough to try. Water was about 76 in 110’.
Thanks Rick.
