me too!
Me three…
“In every species of fish I’ve angled for, it is the ones that have got away that thrill me the most, the ones that keep fresh in my memory. So I say it is good to lose fish. If we didn’t, much of the thrill of angling would be gone.” Ray Bergman
Excuse my ignorance but, besides the end that goes in the water (touches the bottom), what is the difference in a push pole vs. a fiberglass shrimp pole? Could a shrimp pole be adapted into a push pole? Just a thought.

Best thing i’ve used yet!
“sniff it before you eat it!”
Dats why I axed.
There are plenty of guys using wooden closet rods for push poles. As far as “official” push poles being better because, they won’t break… they break just fine. Ask me how I know.
PVC probably wouldn’t last one trip. Wood closet rods can last a season easily if the boat doesn’t weigh too much. The heavier the boat the more stress you end up putting on the pole. Stiffy fiberglass poles work great but, they can break.
I can post a link to a guy that makes the point and foot that are attached to wooden closet rods, if anyone wants it?
I had to make a wooden one back in the day, before they sold fiberglass ones locally. They are pretty heavy. Not for sissies. I’m a sissy now-a-days, when it comes to pushing a heavy boat around.
i have a 18’ stiffy for sale.
iFly,
Can you send me the link you mentioned for the point and foot that fits a wood pole.
Thanks

got super lucky 2 years ago and found a 18’ stiffy on a bank in James Island…then got super unlucky when it snapped while tied off in a 20mph winds earlier this year.
So, yeah they can break.
