Pygmy Kayaks?

Does anyone have experience with or opinons about the Pygmy kayaks? they look to be beautiful boats, functional, and not to hard to build (plus the satisfaction of having built it yourself).

[:0] Don’t do it… kayak building is more additive then kayak fishing. I haven’t build a Pygmy. But I have built a CLC Boat, any other wooden boats. They are easy to build. Checkout http://www.southernpaddler.com/

Building boats is like eating potato chips. You can’t stop at 1.
With that being said, it is a great feeling to paddle something you built.

Nod.

I bought a Hobie revolution this weekend and am loving it, but still considering building a Pygmy, they seem like such beautiful boats. Hmm, wonder if i can get a mirage drive to work with one…hehe, naa.

It would be really easy to build in a centerboard well for the mirage drive. I’ve been considering it for quite a while.

check out southernpaddler.com before you decide to build. it is a bigger addiction than kayak fishing.
If you decide to go for it, her are a few bits of advice
make sure you have sufficient building space
read the labels & MSDS’s that come with your materials
FOLLOW ALL safety precautions… some of this stuff will kill you
double the time estimate
expect to make mistakes
learn to live with making mistakes
have fun
take time to enjoy the experience, it’s more rewarding than the finished product.

…I’m not a big Hobie fan, but I kinda’ like this wooden “Left Coast” SOT “Sabalo” with an added mirage drive
