I am looking for a place or club to hunt quail at with my own dog. If I could find a plantation with reasonable rates for this retiree it would be great. I don’t mind traveling to get to one. Thanks for any info.

Keep in mind that quail “hunting” around here is going to be “kick-n-shoot” pen raised birds. There’s a place a bit closer than Backwoods up near the Holly Hill area called Wassamassaw Shooting Preserve. It’s a pretty low key, economy version of a preserve but you can use your own dog and maybe pay by the bird released.

I did get up to Wassamassaw last year, it was a little late and we couldn’t get the birds up much.
If I can ever find a few acres to purchase myself I will try to keep some birds around myself. I did
work with a trainer over in Georgia and had to manage the birds, help with the training and kennels.
I will check on Backwoods Quail Club too.

We hunted Springrove Preserve in St. Stephen’s in December. The birds flew very well up there. They have dogs or you can bring your own.
