Theres a red tail on every fence post in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas and more nest predators than you could trap, and they have birds because they have habitat. Wild birds know how to survive.

I ain't gonna argue with you on that

I don’t believe the feral cat thing, how bout hawks.Remember a while back when those rich guys got caught killing all the birds of prey on that plantation down in Jasper county,I think.

Maybe your are referring to Mackie Point Plantation… DNR released a few birds after being tipped off… quite a few with chips… I forget how many they found in the spoil pit. It was a lot! Fines where astronomical. Beyond astronomical. That’s been a few years ago…

I don’t believe the hawks are the reason for quail decline. More hawks get shot by mom and pop chicken raisers and fly by night dove/quail area hunters…. besides back in the day when quail were all over and we heard the “bob white” whistle… hawks were just as prevalent if not more so than they are now…

Feral cats are a scourge, I’ll kill all I can, when I can. As to fire ants… I do everything in my power to kill em.
