For the past almost 2 months, we have been dropping in at Quenby landing and trying to go and catch some catfish. After about 9 trips, we have only caught two (one 5 and one 9 lb), wanted to see if anyone else is having luck this summer?

We have tried everything we have heard: chicken livers, cut bait, shrimp, whole fish, worms, hell even goldfish one night. We have fished the T’s, the 70 foot holes, the 25 foot holes, the church, girl scout pier, drifted. Doesn’t seem to be much luck for us this summer and were about to head to Tail Race when I figured I would post and see how everyone else is doing. We typically use carolina rigs bottom fishing.

How’s everyone else doing this summer? advice?

You might be fishing too deep.

A lot of people think you need to fish deeeep to catch cats, and you certainly can catch them deep.

However, I’ve had my best luck catching cats (including big ones) in less than 10’ of water.

Chicken gizzards and hearts. Look for an outgoing tide where the cuts hit the main river.
