for you guys that fish with frequency…have you ever attempted to document your fishing productivity compared to the fishing forecasts? I am just curious how reliable or accurate they are, understanding the are countless other variables involved.
Not that I am going to allow a bad forecast keep me from fishing, but I just wondered.
I am definteily not the one to ask…but a few weeks ago my wife and I tore the reds up one day, and the very next day with identical weather, we didnt get a bite. Checked the"fishing forecast"’ and the day we caught them had 3-3 on the fish scale (highest), and had no fish (lowest), the day we stunk it up. Always wondered the same thing. Curious to hear other responses.
Don’t have a knack for makin motors crank,
But I’m pretty good at drinkin beer
The best way to a fisherman’s heart is through his fly.
I try to fish around the best days on the calendar and most often do pretty good. I don’t fish often enough to verify this though. Any more, I just go when I get a chance.
I document pressure, winds, tide, water color, and water temp for all trips. You will see patterns for your location!!! I also look at the fishing forcast(waist of time in my view). Fish more, and keep records! It pays off:smiley:
