Question about turkey hunting

Have feeders with corn out on property. Can we hunt the property for turkeys as long as we are not hunting the feeders?

You can ask DNR but I think the answer is no.

absolutely no- if there is bait in 1 place on a 10,000 acre property the entire property is off limits for turkeys

You can hunt it 10 days after all bait has been removed. So that would be a no.

The person you talked to, has no clue. NO Turkey hunting anywhere on your property if there is bait, anywhere on your property.

Check feeders and make sure there is not even ONE grain of feed in them, or you will be charged.

Grtting conflicting answers all over the place. Not gonna bother with it unless I get a confirmed yes

^^^^^^^. No.

If you have any chufa don’t do any disking they can get you for that or mowing a grain crop during the season will get you.

The rules state: Unlawful to hunt or take a wild turkey by means of bait or on or over any baited area (SC 50-11-510). Bait means placing, depositing, exposing, distributing, or scattering of salt, corn, wheat, or other grain, or foodstuffs to constitute a lure or attraction for wild turkeys. An area remains a baited area for ten days following the complete removal of all bait. NOTE: The following activities can result in a baited area if done prior to or during turkey season: planting, discing or manipulating chufa to expose the tubers; mowing or manipulating standing grain crops where grain is scattered or exposed; top sowing of any grains; bait or feed intended for other species.

This does not state you can’t hunt anywhere on your property. It only states you can’t hunt over a baited area. It looks like a huge gray area to me.

It is a huge gray area but bye no means would ever jeopardize my hunting rights. Have a sister upstate with a small piece of land so will just make a weekend trip there.
