Question for Active People/Workout Out

So I go to The Citadel and passed my required PT test with flying colors but failed height/weight. I am a bigger guy and I PT(workout/exercise) 3-4 times a week. I need to “cut” weight in order to take my weekends and overnights. Is there a supplement that y’all would recommend to cut weight/fat? I eat right and don’t eat junk food/fast food.

Thank you,

Micah

Eat fruits for breakfast, the “healthy”/vegetarian option at lunch and the salad bar at dinner. I started to drop weight senior year when I quit eating all of the Aramark crap they serve. Drink more water during the day and you’ll eat less. It worked for me when I went there.

Be careful with any vegetarian options, they usually replace proteins with carbohydrates.

Supplement moderate amounts of food, with the recommended balance of proteins, carbs, and fats. Eat less (but healthy) and exercise more. You don’t need magic pills to make weight.

If you are VERY close, you can just dehydrate yourself prior to your weigh in. Not healthy to do often or in excess, but if it’s a rare event, it won’t hurt you unless you go way beyond sensible.

Knew a Sgt Maj once that had a bad back. They kept removing disk’s in his back. Every time they would take one out he would get 1/2 inch shorter and have to meet a different height weight standard. He said that if it kept up, he was going to be to short and skinny to be in the Army[:0] Go see the medics and have them send you to a nutritionist!

Maybe a sweat suit and some cardio, loose water weight, be careful though.

I sent you a pm.

Is there not a body fat rule? As in if you are over the weight standard, but your body fat is less than 20%, you’re ok? It’s been a long time since I was a cadet but I thought that existed.

Are you hungry by the next meal? If the answer is no you are eating to much (quantity)

Neck exercises. That’s what I had my guys do to help pass W&T.
Bigger neck helps you body fat % according to the army’s ridiculous body composition formula.

Scoobie- there is a standard. They changed it this year and made the standards extremely high this year without giving info about it. Many seniors could not get their rings because of this. Last year I was 17%. Now I am “29%”

Cobia-PM answered and thanks for the help. Been eating even better and PT’ing even harder. I will keep y’all updated.
