Chris. I called your shop today and asked if ya’ll had a thermostat for a 2001 90hp today. Talked with a pleasant young sounding person. Put on hold for a while and when he came back. he said sorry we don’t have one. I said no problem, thanks. He then asked me if I had the part number.
My question is how do your people know something is out of stock, without knowing the part number. I went to the Yamaha web site and had the P/N in less that two minutes. That thermostat crosses with multiple engines and HP according to Yamaha. Was I blown off? I was not expecting that question from a dealer. Just saying.
Maybe he was offering to give it to you to make your seach easier as you called other dealers?
Ever heard of a pm?

I think that’s a fair question. But be ready 1/4 # for . Better hope you never need another part…

Thanks. Appreciate the help.
I was going to wait until Sunday to reply, but I’ve got plans and won’t be around.
I have no problems with CM. Never have. I have no problems being told , “we don’t have the part”. If it seems like I was calling them out, then my apologies to CM. I could have used the young mans name but choose not to. As a customer, If I call a place of business that advertises proficiency in a certain area, then I have certain expectations. The phone conversation had ended. I was ready to hang up when the question was posed. Could I have used a PM, Yes. Has this happened to other customers, Who knows.
As an aside, that particular Yamaha thermostat (90hp, 2001) is the same as all 2005 and up 2-stroke 70 hp according to Yamaha’s website.
I will continue to support CM and do business with them as I have in the past. “Do you have the part number?” asked at the last, irked me.
Sorry Chris
jay was the young man you spoke with.
sorry the question “irked” you, but he was trying to be helpful.
he is not our parts rep, but when he asked the parts guy if we had the part, he was told no, because we had just used the last of the t-stats, and had reordered, and they werent here yet. the parts guy knew this. jay did not.
If you had the part number, jay was going to double check in the computer.
Jay has gone above and beyond to help me several times…good dude!!!
If at first you don’t succeed, drink another beer!!!
