question for the car guys

I have 2002 mustang gt with 90,000 miles, and it sounds like the spider gears have play in them. I believe all 2002 gt’s had 28 spline axles. I hear a clunking coming from the rear end and it isn’t my u joints. I hear this when I slow down then accelerate and in between gear changes when power is reapplied to the drive-train. Can I replace just the spider gears or does the whole trac loc carrier have to be replaced? I don’t hear a whine and it doesn’t sound like ring and pinion. No vibration either, just clunking when I go to the next gear or just re-accelerate.

Thanks
