Question on Tides and Current

I’m going to do some paddling on Saturday and want to plan the trip so that I go with the tide/current out, turn around at low tide and paddle back in with the incoming tide.

The tide chart shows a low tide just after noon but doesn’t show the current to be slack until 2:00.

It seems like the current should be slack right at low or high tide then start flowing the opposite direction.

What am I missing?

Thanks for the help.

Just realized I got this in the wrong forum. Meant to put it on inshore discussion.

What chart are you looking at? Where are you paddling?

We’re going from Seabrook Island to Deveaux Bank (abiding by all laws and rules for the protected area). I want to make sure the follow the tide out and then back in. I’ll also watch how it affects the conditions for safety and comfort.

Low tide there on Saturday should be about 12:15 but the current predictions for the same area don’t show slack current until more than an hour after that.

The Android app I use is called “My Tide Times” by Jake Rustin.

It matches pretty well with the online NOAA times etc.

2 hours of slack is highly unlikely. Not sure why its reading that way. Here is what I use. http://www.tides4fishing.com/us/south-carolina/seabrook Wind will have a lot of effect on your kayak. Watch the wind speeds.
