I am just starting the fly fishing in saltwater. I have fished in the mountains for a long time on the fly rod but just now getting into the salt. My wife is from Charleston so we get down that way a good bit and fish. My question is, What is the best size rod for inshore fishing mainly reds and trout? I got an eight weight from my dad for Christmas but I have heard a lot of people say that is too much. But none of those people were from around the area and I am not sure if I can trust them? Any input on that would be great. I have a few 5 weights I use for trout up here but I believe that would be too small. Next question, what are some of yalls favorite flies to use down there?
