Hey guys, I’m a college kid coming to the Charleston area on Tuesday and Wednesday to visit my gf and was trying to figure out tips for the area. Ive never fished the area but was trying to do a little scouting on google earth to figure out the layout. I was thinking bringing some gulp and fishing the finger jettys along folly beach but I heard it was super shallow. I was also looking at Sullivans Island but it doesnt look too promising either. I do have a kayak I was debating on bringing to possibly fish some creek mouths instead. Is there anywhere close to a bridge I can dump in at to fish along the bridge or a rock wall? Any tips, reports, or information would be helpful. Also, is there much bait in the surf yet? I do a lot of fishing in Murrells Inlet and its just been crowded as hell.
The surf has been hot recently. Lots of drum(red and black) trout, whiting, and Spanish… come down and fish the pier, or the rocks and surf. You could bring a kayak, but if you surf fish your GF can go to. Visit the Surf/ Pier section for more tips and tricks. Yes bait is everywhere and the public boat ramp is at the base of the bridge
The gf is working during the day, so that’s when I’m going to be able to slip out and do some fishing so I’ll be solo
