As Patti’s still not up to going out, just picked up my dozen herring and solo’ed. On my current favorite spot on 48 foot hump just off of the river channel by 0730. Had two 21 inch, one 22, and one 24 before 0800. Missed a few but boated a nice 25 inch within another half hour so called it a day, but it was alright. Waiting for October.
I might need to send my cousin fishing with you one day. He and his girlfriend haven’t been very successful fishing lately. I think most of his problem is that he’s trying to use minnows instead of herring. Glad you caught them today.
Good job, Mike. Good to hear that you’re out and I hope that Patti will be back out there with you soon.

Thanks, James and Charles. The real satisfaction is enjoying the success when one applies information obtained from this forum and the Midland Striper Club. Definitely makes fishing more fun. Heading back out Friday morning with an individual from Church to see what we can do. It’ll just be his second time fishing from a boat for stripers and first down-rod attempt. Wednesday’s bite ran the full range of from vicious, pecking, to sneaky.
Patti hasn’t given up yet. As we’re both getting more clumsy, yesterday we ordered two of the manual inflated fishing vests so that we can wear them all the time, just in case.
