I ordered a Racor Filter S3213 and got it in today. After opening the box this filter needs a collection bowl which my other filter does not have. My filter is located in the bilge area mounted on the transom. Can i use this filter if i get the see thru collection bowl? And where can i purchase this bowl??

I live 3 hours from the coast and i’m not aware of any place close to me that sells the filter. I purchased my boat from Marshall’s in Lake City which is 2 hours away and I live between Columbia and Charlotte in a small country “bumkin” town (Lancaster)

the S3213 element has a clear bowl that can be reused when you replace the element. You just ordered the replacement element. Which is right if he already had the assembly with reusable bowl that Chris is speaking of. Call Chris and he can assist you. You could also keep what you have as your future replacement and have Chris send you the complete kit. Just a thought.

Would do like Cpt. Steve suggests, that way you have a spare, the clear bowls with a draincock on them are approved for above deck and only below deck if there is no source of ignition located below deck if thier is, you need to use a metal bowl then.
The filters are a MUST for outboards IMO, as they let you visually see if any water is in there and drain it out if present.

I need to install a fuel/water separator filter and I hear a lot about the Racor with the drain at the bottom. My problem is, I have a 17’CC with limited room in the transom area. I have been looking at the Yamaha Mini 10 Micron filter, it is only about 7" from top to bottom. Does anyone know if this system is okay, or does Racor make a smaller version of the clear bottom filter?
Racor does make a smaller version but I couldn’t tell you what the dimensions are. call Chris V. He sells them at the store and if he’s out he will order them for you.
