I want a set of fowl weather gear. Saw some paper feeling material does that stuff rip up easy. What difference is PVC vs. Nylon when I where it. Please point me in the right direction
Try some Frog Toggs. We’ve been using them for 6 years now and they are still in good shape. The material feels like paper, but is really tough and actually cool in the summer. I have a yellow Stearns PVC outfit also, but never wear it except when it is really cold. The Frog Toggs are not expensive and come with a nice hood on the jacket and suspenders on the pants which are like ski bibs. I’ve had several rainsuits over the years but these are very nice for the price. The material is a relatively new invention and has holes in it that allow it to breathe without taking in water. These are the bomb for summertime.

BTW - It is ‘foul’ weather gear.

I use the Bass Pro 100MPH suits for the heavy weather stuff. They make a lighter grade parka/bib combo under the “pro qualifier” series name as well. Might be too heavy for down here but not if it’s blowing. Just be sure you get Goretex or you will be miserable. Take it from a guy who fished for money in all kinds of conditions for a long time, you can’t have too nice of rain gear. The Cabelas “guide series” is a great line too as is the Simms products I hear. Never tried Simms however.

I got a pair of Filson rain pants. They work great if you don’t mind washing by hand.
-There are two types of fisherman those who fish for sport and those who fish for fish.
my frog toggs are like wind breakers as i just get wet in them. but in the summer its ok as it is warm enough. pvc will keep you sorta dry and hot!! i just think all that “breatheable” stuff no matter what they say still lets in water… jan

a simms rain suit will keep you dry but they are not cheap. at all. However they work and are comfortable. try e bay for simms gear and sometime you can find a deal. REI makes good rain gear too and not nearly the cost of simms.
